Capydocs 0.9.0: first public release

Capydocs 0.9.0 was the first public desktop release on September 6, 2025. It established the local-first Vault, file browser, document viewers, metadata tools, and editors that later releases expanded. The release history is available in the Capydocs changelog.

A local-first file workspace

A Vault is a folder selected by the user. Capydocs works with the files in that folder instead of moving them into a hosted service. The file browser combines folders, previews, metadata, search, favorites, and timeline views in one desktop application.

The virtual file system also lets supported archives behave like folders. You can inspect their contents without extracting everything first. Files that need closer inspection can open in a regular viewer or the optional hexadecimal viewer.

Markdown and structured documents

The first public version included Markdown and TextPack editing alongside Canvas, Kanban, and Habit documents. These formats store their content in files that remain accessible outside Capydocs. TextPack keeps Markdown and its attachments together when one portable document is more useful than separate files.

Capydocs also connected document references to previews and metadata. This made it possible to move between writing, related files, and visual material without leaving the Vault.

File and platform tools

Version 0.9.0 included cross-platform file clipboard operations, Save As for content inside containers, printing support, format previews, and desktop build profiles for Windows and macOS. Feature flags kept optional OCR, AI, image conversion, and automatic orientation tools separate from the core application.

Later releases changed the edition and distribution model, but the local-file design remained. Current Lite and Full products are available from the official stores listed on the Capydocs download page.
